KraftyQuote / For laser shops
For laser shops
Know what the sheet and the beam cost before you quote.
KraftyQuote nests your parts on the sheet, works out how long the laser will run from the cut length, pierces, engraving and raster area, and puts both on the quote, so the material and machine time are counted from the job itself.
From the file to the quote
- KraftyNest places parts true-shape on your sheet size, with kerf and spacing, and keeps holes and slots you mark as keep-outs clear.
- Runtime comes from the cut length at your feed rate, a delay for every pierce, vector engraving and scoring, and raster fill by area.
- Confirm to the quote. The nest offers two honest ways to cost the sheet: whole sheets, with the drop as scrap, or true area plus kerf, if the rest goes back on the rack. You pick one; nothing is overwritten without asking.
- KraftyDesign draws common parametric shapes (boxes, signs and plaques, coasters, ornaments and keychains, throwing stars) straight into the nest.
Material pages for the sheets you cut
Yield and cost calculators for 1/8″ Baltic birch, 1/8″ basswood, 3 mm cast acrylic, veg-tan leather and more, each with what fits on the common sheet sizes. The laser kerf calculator sets press fits and finds your kerf from a test cut.
What else is in the quote
- Materials, hardware and labor on every line, with a scrap allowance and your shop overhead spread over billable hours.
- The price that holds your margin after the selling channel's cut: Etsy, Square, Shopify, PayPal and others are built in, with sales tax and a deposit if you take one.
- A customer quote and a shop ticket from the same numbers, as a PDF or an email.
- KraftyFlow, a job board with a stage timer, so the time you actually spend comes back next to the time you quoted.
- KraftyStock, which takes the material off your inventory when a job is done and flags what is running low.
Set an hourly rate for your machine with the machine hourly rate calculator: purchase price, years of life, hours a week, power and upkeep.
What's free and what's paid: estimating, quote and shop-ticket PDFs, and nests of up to 5 different parts are free on every plan, with the cash, Square, Shopify and Etsy channels. Maker Pro adds the other sales channels (PayPal, Faire and more) and quotes your customer accepts online. Workshop Suite adds SVG/DXF import, nesting with no part limit and every KraftyDesign shape but the knife blank. See the plans.
Questions
Does it work with diode, CO2 and fiber lasers?
Yes. Runtime comes from the feed rates and pierce delay you set, so it follows your machine rather than a brand. The machine hourly rate calculator has presets for all three.
Does KraftyNest replace LightBurn?
No. It is for quoting: how many parts fit, what the sheet costs, how long the job runs. You still run the job in your control software.
How is engraving time counted?
Vector engraving and scoring run at an engrave feed rate over their length; filled art is counted by area at a raster rate. Both are yours to set.
Can it quote ornaments and other small batches?
Yes. The material pages show ornament counts per sheet, and the quote line’s quantity carries the batch through to the price.
